Pilot project: Foster family

Become a foster family for the SPA des Cantons.

The SPA des Cantons is launching a foster family pilot project to provide a warm environment for some of our residents awaiting adoption. Placing sick, vulnerable, or special-needs animals in temporary homes allows us to provide them with specific care in a comfortable setting.

How does it work?

For this launch phase, we are selecting three foster families for cats and one foster family for a dog. If the project goes well, we plan to expand the program to more homes.

As a foster family, you provide time, love, and space to an animal in need. The SPA covers litter, food, and veterinary care, but your commitment and reliability are essential.

Your responsibilities

Becoming a foster family means you must house the animal temporarily and care for it.
If the animal is undergoing treatment, you must administer its medication (tablets or liquid).
You must keep us informed of its health status and bring it to the SPA for its vaccines.
Of course, it is essential to give it all your affection!
Make sure your own pets’ vaccinations are up to date to avoid any risk of contamination.

We do our best to ensure that the animals we place in foster care have received all necessary diagnoses and treatments. However, it may happen that some of these animals have an illness that we were unable to detect. We want to ensure that our foster families are comfortable with this possibility. Although it is possible to rehabilitate the vast majority of animals we place in foster care, certain circumstances may nevertheless mean that we must make difficult euthanasia decisions.
